Sri Govinda Guru Swamiyenamah

Sri Govinda Guru Vande Yatheendriyam Vijayendriyam!
Jeevathvaana Samadhauthu Samsthitham Yoginisttaya!!

Sri Govinda Guru Swamy (Swamy) was born in 1650 for Srimathi Achhmamba and Sri Ramachandra Bhattu in Mudumala (near Siddhayya mattam), Badvel Taluk. From his childhood, Swamy showed inclination towards spirituality and God realization. Swamy has become disciple of Sri Surya Guru Yatheswara Swamy and attained Mantra Upadesm at the age of 9 years on auspicious day of Magha Suddha Poornima. Since then he became a wandering monk touring the Indian subcontinent starting from Kanchipuram to Himalayas. As per his Gurus orders Swamy has preached and followed Gruhastu Dharma and he married to Sowbhagyawathi. Lakshamamba from near by village called Palugurallapalli. He then moved to Palugurallapalli with family and established The Mattam and started teaching vedas, dharmas, upanishads to all his sishyas (disciples). Swamiji has served spiritual & Vedic needs of human community for 100 years. Swamiji practiced Kundalini Yoga and he also preached Yoga to his Shishyas, finally at the age of 101 Swamiji attained ‘JEEVASAMADHI’ (on Margasira Amavasya) in the year of 1750 in the Mattam.

In those days itself Swamy has made an unprecedented attempt to teach the people from all castes and religions. Even today most of the Swamys bhaktas belonged to various castes & religions and they visit the Mattam every year from various parts of the country like Kadapa Dist, Anatapur Dist, Kurnool Dist, Chittor Dist, Srikakulam, Chennai, and Hyderabad. To every ones surprise even today Muslim families are devotees of the temple in Palugurallapalli and they offer valuable services (cleaning the temple and providing security) to the Temple & Mattam since more than 250 years.

Swamy has shown extraordinary intelligence and spiritual bent of mind to people in various occasions. He was a true follower of Sri Adi Sankara and he taught about Advaita to his Shiyas, the principle that everyone is the manifestation of God. He has been named as Three Kala Jnana (Who knows the Past, Present and Future) soon after his Brahmacharyam in Gurukulam. Like Sankaracharya, Swamy also worshiped both Siva and Kesava. He had a vision of constructing temples for Siva and Kesava in his mattem. With the blessings of Swamy, his grandson Yadati Narasaiah has constructed a temple for Siva (Sri Meenakshi Naramadeswara Swamy).
